A list...

The following have all happened over the past month (in no particular order):

1) My one year blogoversary passed on June first without notice... or at least without me noticing.

2) I've done as much work (at work) in the past two weeks as I would normally do in about two months. We actually keep track of these things for contractual reason, so I have actual numbers to back this up.

3) Last weekend was my first weekend in a month at home... of course I couldn't sleep in, because my room mate was out of town and someone had to let the puppy out.

4) My parents came to visit for a week. I just got back from dropping them off at the airport for their flight back. Much to my annoyance, my room mate offered to let them stay in our condo, and he would stay with his girlfriend. *grumble* Though in all honesty, this didn't turn out as bad as I was expecting it to be, but it threw off my entire routine. Between this, and #2, I didn't have time to check my personal email for ten days.

5) My uncle* from the Manchester region was named on the Queen's Birthday Honours list. He is now a Member of the British Empire. Congratulations uncle!

6) Two of my good friends got married... to each other. The wedding and reception were wonderful, though my enjoyment was spoiled by a migraine. On the other hand, I got to meet my nephew Ojas... :-) ... along with the rest of my family and a bunch of other friends.

7) I got to see the launch of STS-124... ie. the most recent Space Shuttle mission. The launch was an awesome experience. The day after, a small group of us go to go on a back room tour of lots of facilities at the Kennedy Space Center. It was quite awesome. (pictures forthcoming)

8) I went camping on Assateague Island. While it was fun, camping there on the hottest weekend so far this year was not such a hot idea. Also, one thing you don't think about ahead of time, where there are wild horses, there will be wild horse shit. Lots of it.

9) I over heard the following conversation between a father and ~four year old son at a Mexican restaurant, it made me laugh:

While ordering:
Dad: Do you want beans or rice with your quesadilla?
Son: Ick! No! I don't like rice and I don't like beans.

After the food arrives:
Son: I want some rice! Her rice! And beans! (referring to his sister)
Dad: Son, when we ordered I specifically asked you if you wanted beans and rice, and you said that you didn't.
Son: No I didn't! I said... (followed by mumbling that I couldn't make out)

At this point, the father and mother break out with laughter...

Dad: Son, you're channeling Ari Flischer.

The kid never did get his sister's rice and beans. He did get is father's though. As brother to two sisters, I'm sure they didn't taste quite as good...

Lastly, as a parting bit of advice, Windows Vista sucks. It just does. Avoid it like the plague. Unfortunately, this is easier said than done.

I hope you've all had a wonderful month,

smash: Short answer, no. Long answer, it is unlikely that we have ever been in same room.

I came across your blog through a post on DCBlogs a while back and added to my RSS subscriptions.

:-)
